Te Eitei captain Teweia Butibara, 27, spoke to Oceania Football Center after leading Kiribati to the 2026 FMF IDC Premier Division title.
He singled out the I-Kiribati supporters living in Suva, who followed the team from the opening defeat to the final, and thanked coaches Pine Iosefa and Tetabo Manaima for their planning and preparation. He delivered his message to the nation in Te Taetae ni Kiribati, and hopes I-Kiribati at home and overseas take pride in what the squad achieved.
Butibara scored Kiribati’s first ever goal at the IDC in the opening match against Seaqaqa, and finished the tournament lifting the trophy.
